A few details, or: what we know so far

What we've determined so far:

Place
Encinitas & Carlsbad, CA.

Dates
July 20 - 24. Those are M-F, but all are welcome the weekend before & after, depending upon your schedules.

Activities:
  • The beach (surfing, paddle boarding, volleyball, BBQs, sunbathing, and long walks)
  • Legoland
  • Seaworld
  • The SD Zoo & Wild Animal Park
  • Balboa Park
  • Hiking
  • Harbor cruises
  • Shopping galore!

Where to stay:
  • With the Smiths (Encinitas)
  • With the Monahans (Carlsbad)
  • With the Kelsays (Carlsbad)
  • With the Logans (Boonies)
  • Days Inn (Encinitas - Right next to Denny's!)
  • Howard Johnson (Leucadia - this is where a couple of Heaven's Gate cult members... never mind)
  • A host of other hotels in the area
Who's Coming:
So far as I know, everyone but the Rhett & Lauren Pratt Family will be able to make it that weekend, though I'm sure this will change over the coming months.

Unknown Variables:

Name:
Do we call it the Smith-Pratt-Ericson-Richards Reunion (SPER for short)? Or the Doris & Irv Memorial Family Reunion? Between the lot of us, we are up to 11 last names, so this is no easy task.

Meals:
I'm  no good at this type of thing, so hopefully someone will be willing to volunteer to take the reigns for divvying up meal assignments and whatnot. I'm sure that this will go somewhat hand-in-hand with...

Schedule:
We have a great list of ideas, but which activities are people most interested in? If we skip out on Legoland, will someone be horribly disappointed and never want to speak to me again? Let me know if there's something you are absolutely dying to do, and I'll try to accommodate you.

I look forward to hearing all of your thoughts and ideas!

Welcome (Vilkommen) (Bienvenidos) (Bienvenue)

I thought I'd start things off with a little trip down Memory Lane. And what better than a picture of Doris & Irvin at the casino?

I'm going to attempt to invite all of you to be authors of this blog so that you can help me plan the reunion (I don't want to get blamed if people aren't happy!), show off some old family photos, and to simply keep in touch with one another. If you are not familiar with how blogs work, the most recent post is at the top, the older ones are below that. There's a main body of images and text, and then a space for people who would like to comment - a good way to get some dialogue going without flooding each other's inboxes. I hope that you all will participate!
